About Mass Boerboels
A small kennel on open countryside ground, breeding South African Boerboels to standard — quality dogs that are forever pets and family guardians.
Our story
Mass Boerboels started with two dogs. We brought home our first Boerboels — brothers Titan and Tugga — for guardianship and companionship, and what we got was both: steady, loyal protectors who watched our kids in the yard and greeted our guests like old friends. We were hooked on the breed.
Today we're a small, family-run kennel on several acres in the countryside — and small is deliberate. A limited number of litters means every pairing is planned, every pup is socialized by hand, and every family that takes one home becomes part of our extended kennel family. We'd rather do a few litters exceptionally well than many litters adequately.
We're registered with the South African Boerboel Breeders' Society (SABBS), the breed's official registry, and every dog in our program is SABBS appraised and health-tested. That's the bar for being here — not a marketing line.
Where they're raised
Open ground, real family life, and room to be a dog.
Trails and woods to explore
Our dogs cover wooded trails and natural terrain every day — varied exercise that builds the structure and conditioning the breed standard calls for.
House-raised puppies
Puppies are born and raised in our home and yard, underfoot with kids, guests, and everyday noise — not in a kennel run.
Daily guardian work
Our adults live the job they were bred for: patrolling the property, watching stock, and staying steady around the family.
Room to grow
Puppies learn space, boundaries, and confidence on real terrain before they ever leave home.
How we breed
Our breeding program is built on two commitments: breed standard and health testing. Every pairing is judged against the Boerboel standard — structure, type, and temperament — and every dog in our program is SABBS appraised and health-tested before they're ever considered for a litter. Hips, elbows, eyes, and temperament: no exceptions, no shortcuts.
Temperament comes first in our home. A Boerboel should be confident and discerning — devoted to its family, measured with strangers, and safe with the children it grows up with. We select for the dog that lives well in a house full of people, because that's the dog our families are bringing home.
And we're honest about fit. A Boerboel is a serious dog — big, strong, and bred to guard. It needs space, structure, and a family committed to it for life. If that's not your situation, we'll tell you plainly rather than place a pup in the wrong home.
